Foster Care Week in NSW 2011

Foster Care Week is an annual event which has been running in NSW since 1990. Coordinated by ACWA with the support of non-government foster care agencies and other partners, Foster Care Week aims to celebrate and acknowledge the work of NSW’s foster carers.

Activities during the week include the Foster Care Week Carnival Day for foster carers and their families; competitions for carers and children and young people in care; and regional activities and social events for carers. A grant from the Minister for Community Services assists with all this work.

The success of Foster Care Week is primarily the result of the determination, co-operation and hard work of a small group of inter-agency representatives and foster carers who make up the Foster Care Week Committee. All those involved with the event have a strong commitment to maintaining and further reinforcing a positive image of foster care in the wider community.
